Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial

On May 7, 2026, the delegation led by the President of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs, who was in Armenia on an official visit, visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial There he was welcomed by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, the Acting Head of the Staff of the President of the Republic of Armenia Khachatur Poghosyan, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Robert Abisoghomyan, the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Latvia Ara Margaryan, the Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Levon Hovhannisyan and the Acting Director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute Hrachya Tashchyan.

The President of Latvia laid a wreath at the monument eternalizing the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide, where he was greeted by the Honor Guard of the Armenian Armed Forces and the military orchestra performed the national anthem of Latvia in his honor President Rinkēvičs and other members of the delegation laid flowers at the Eternal Flame and honored the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide with a minute of silence.

At the conclusion of the visit, Mr Edgars Rinkēvičs toured the Memory Alley and watered the fir trees planted by former Latvian Presidents Vaira Vike-Freiberga and Valdis Zatlers.
